Greystones Post-Primary Schools Announce Admissions Process for 2026/27
The Principals of St David’s Holy Faith Secondary School, Temple Carrig School, and Greystones Community College wish to update families in Greystones on the admissions process for entry into 1st Year 2026/2027. We are aware that recent changes to the process have created some uncertainty for parents and guardians. The three schools are working closely together to ensure that the process is asstraightforward and transparent as possible for all 6th class students and their families.
Key Dates and Places Available
• Application window: Opens 1st October 2025 and closes 22nd October 2025.
• Places available: A total of 447 first-year places across the three schools, an increase on last year.
While we are delighted to offer more places, it is important to note that schools can only admit students within the limits of resources provided by the Department of Education and Youth and in line with the Education (Admissions to Schools) Act 2018.
New Pilot Single Application System
This year, the Department of Education and Youth has introduced a pilot single application system in Greystones:
• One application form covers all three Greystones post-primary schools.
• Families do not need to apply directly to each school.
• Required documents include: a birth certificate and two recent utility bills (dated within the last six months) as proof of address.
The new system will allow the Department to identify potential capacity issues earlier in the process.
Please note: The system does not allow parents to indicate a preferred school. This is not a “common application system”. Each school will continue to apply its own admissions policy and criteria, as in previous years. As in previous years, it is our recommendation that parents in Greystones should apply to all three schools.
From the 2026/27 school year onwards, applications for an Autism class must include:
• A letter from the NCSE confirming that the child/young person is known to the NCSE, and
• That they have the required diagnosis of autism and a recommendation for a special class placement in a mainstream school.
Parents/guardians wishing to apply for an AS class should follow the same www.applytoschool.ie process indicting that they are applying for a place in the school’s AS class.
• First-round offers will issue on or before 12th November 2025.
• Families must accept or decline by 25th November 2025.
We ask families who may receive more than one offer to decide promptly on their preferred school and to decline any additional offers. Holding multiple places delays allocations for other families. If a student is found to have accepted places in two or more Greystones schools, parents will be contacted directly and asked to confirm their decision in writing immediately.
