Greystones Community College were incredibly proud to have two finalists in the 2024 BT Young Scientist and Technology Exhibition in the RDS. 4th Year Students Jack Walsh and Sam Pandey represented the school this year.
Jack's entry to the BT Young Scientist, explores the potential creation of wormholes through quantum field interactions. Leveraging the power of a specially designed GPT and a sophisticated Python code which scanned the literature and aided in interpreting the calculations to predict the behavior of wormholes. The aim of the project is to shed light on the intriguing possibilities of manipulating quantum fields to generate traversable wormholes under specific conditions.
Sam's entry to the BT Young Scientist, incorporates a drone, Python, and the OpenCV library for object recognition, along with the Smtplib library for alert systems to help prevent the loss of livestock. The project involved creating a comprehensive code for drone control, sheep recognition, and tracking. The aim of this innovative design was to enhance agricultural practices through efficient and automated monitoring, if there is a decrease in the number of livestock on the drone monitor an alert is sent to the farmers phone.
Congratulations to both Jack and Sam and their teacher Ms. Devlin.
