Irish Programme of Excellence
An Clár Clocháin is a support programme of excellence designed for students who have attended a primary Gaelscoil, or who have a high fluency in Irish. The programme is designed to ensure that our Gaeilgeoir students are given every possibility to maintain and develop their Irish as they make the transition to GCC.
An Clár Clocháin will run alongside the general classwork as an extra support programme. Our programme of excellence will include, oral language classes, creative writing, presentations and reading and studying a variety of texts all through the medium of Irish.
One of the commitments of our students who take part in our Clár Clocháin initiative is that they endeavour to use Gaeilge on a daily basis when communicating with each other, with members of the Irish department and any other Irish speaking staff member.
The programme will also invite our Gaeilgeoir students to take a leadership role, working with students who may find Irish challenging and assist them on a one-one level, where they can support their peers with pronunciation, communication and help build confidence in the Irish language at a pace they feel comfortable with.
