New Principal appointed at Greystones Community College

The principal of the new school Greystones Community College will be Ruairí Farrell, the current deputy principal of Colaiste Chraobh Abhann in Kilcoole. The new school will be opening in September in temporary accommodation.
The Kildare and Wicklow Education and Training Board (KWETB), is the patron of both schools and made the announcement last week.
Mr Farrell has fulfilled many leadership roles in the Kilcoole school over the last 12 years. He has considerable expertise in the promotion of effective teaching and learning strategies, student support and peer mentoring, school self-evaluation projects, and technology-enhanced teaching and learning. Mr Farrell's education background is a First-Class Honours Degree (Business Studies), First class Higher Diploma in Education and a First-Class Masters in Education Leadership and Management.He was recently a member of the steering committee established to design and introduce the new Junior Cycle Business specification. He has worked with the State Examinations Commission and has contributed to the implementation of new assessment practices for the Junior Cycle. He also works for University College Dublin as a part-time evening lecturer in Initial Teacher Education.
The Chief Executive of the KWETB, Dr Deirdre Keyes, said that she is delighted that someone of Mr Farrell's calibre has been appointed to this post.
'The establishment and set-up of Greystones Community College, in accordance with the high standards expected of both the ETB and the people of Greystones and Kilcoole, is in safe hands with Ruairi at the helm,' she said.
