TOP RESULTS IN STATE EXAMINATIONS 2023
Greystones Community College was celebrating major news this week with the announcement that not one but two Junior Cycle students at the school achieved some of the highest results in Ireland in the State Examinations 2023. The students received the acclaim when information was collated from all schools throughout the country and a list of the highest achievers is compiled by the State Examinations Commission.
GCC student Ella Macek achieved the second highest grade in the whole country in her Junior Cycle Graphics exam. To put this achievement in context, 15,000 students across the country take this subject from over 700 post primary schools. Ella’s grade was the second highest in the country, a astonishing achievement.
Andrew Gaube was also recognised for achieving one of the highest grades in the country in the subject Applied Technology. Andrew's result placed him in the top 10 results in Ireland this year which is an outstanding achievement.
Both Ella and Andrew were presented with certificates of recognition by the Technology Teachers Association. Mr. Stephen O’Brien, Chairperson of the Technology Teachers Association of Ireland said “To be able to recognise these achievements, we liaise with the State Examinations Commission who kindly provide a list of the most meritorious students. The techo teachers association then provide certificates to these top high achieving students in the country”.
A remarkable achievement for our school in our first year of state examinations!
