Greystones Community College were delighted and honoured to welcome Iar-Taoiseach Bertie Ahern to Greystones today to speak to students about his involvement in the Good Friday Agreement which they have been learning about as part of their studies in Junior Cycle History. The Good Friday Agreement is one of the seminal documents and agreements of our time and has brought about a lasting peace to The Troubles in Northern Ireland and witnessed a new dawn for our island. The document and the negotiations surrounding it contain a number of lessons for our students such as the importance of inclusion, respect and consideration. 3rd Year History students enjoyed his first hand experiences and stories surrounding the Good Friday Agreement and appreciated all the time he spent answering all our questions on the topic. Bertie's personal account of the negotiations and his take on the conflict offered our students a unique insight from a true history maker in our nations history. Commenting on the visit, History
