Greystones Community College Transition Year
GCC held a parents/guardian information night for the current 3rd year students to share our exciting plans for Transition Year next year. The detailed curriculum plan including core subjects, academic subjects, leadership, community, wellbeing and communication modules were all explained. An exciting list of extra and co-curricular activities are also envisaged. GCC were delighted to welcome Lucy Bampton and Joe Megannety from our KWETB sister school, Coláiste Ráithín who shared with parents/guardians their positive experience in Transition Year.
Admissions to 1st Year 2023/2024
Offers of places for 1st year 2023/2024 in Greystones Community College were sent to families on Thursday 10th November in line with the admissions policy. School Management appreciate that there are a large number of families who were hopeful of securing places in GCC who are now on the waiting list. The three schools in Greystones, Temple Carrig School, Greystones Community College and St. Davids Holy Faith Secondary School are currently working closely together to ensure the process is as seamless as possible for 6th class students and their families. All 3 schools are cognisant of the high demand for school places in Greystones and the distress caused to families who are unsuccessful in securing a place. Therefore, all three schools in the local area (St David’s Holy Faith School, Greystones Community College and Temple Carrig School) are asking that families only accept a place for their child in ONE of these schools. It is unfair at this stage for people to hoard places in multiple schools because it deprives other families of the chance of any place at all. If you are offered more than one place, please consider carefully which school you would prefer, make your decision and then reject any offers from the other schools. Where a family is found to have accepted a place in two or more schools in Greystones, you will be contacted by phone and requested to communicate your immediate decision in writing by email to all schools concerned.
