Acceptance Week at GCC

This week, the college was delighted to welcome the inspirational Adam Harris from Asiam.ie, as part of Acceptance Week, to deepen the conversation within the school about Autism. There was great engagement from the second-year students present, with other classes joining virtually. Thanks to Ms Hamilton, Ms Redford and Ms Walsh for organising what was a very informative and engaging talk. Thanks also to the Jigsaw One Good School team who organised a successful ’Walk and Talk’ event for GCC students this week. Finally, each year group attended a short workshop with the school's counsellor, Amanda Le Quesne, where the students discussed ways to support their own mental health.

2nd Year Parent Teacher Student Meetings

On Thursday 15th December, Greystones Community College hosted Parent Student Teacher meetings for 2nd Year Students. With meetings now scheduled in-person, time was afforded to students and families to meet with all teachers. After a number of years of online meetings, it was wonderful to see the school abuzz with members of the school community circulating again. PTS meeting form an integral part of our students' academic progress and provides a valuable opportunity for all those committed to our students' success to discuss and work together to help them achieve their goals.

Enterprise Week 2022 at Greystones Community College

Congratulations to our 1st year young entrepreneurs who held a Christmas Market last week at Greystones Community College to showcase all their innovation, creativity and hard work in establishing their own businesses over the past number of weeks. This is enterprise at its best! It was wonderful to welcome parents and members of the local community to the college to see for themselves the excellent ideas and products that have been developed. Also, as part of Enterprise Week, students devised a whole school activity that afforded themselves the opportunity to win points by answering subject-based-knowledge questions. Well done to all who took part and who were involved in the organization of another successful Enterprise Week at GCC.

Foundation Stones Day at GCC

On Monday 19th December, GCC will celebrate its inaugural Foundation Stones Day; a day to mark the date on which the KWETB was awarded patronage of the school that would become Greystones Community College. The day begins with a whole school assembly, with performances from the GCC choir and a series of conversations with key students and those involved in the establishment of the school. The afternoon will see various creative activities take place in classes, with a special connection to the Foundation Stones Day theme. Excitement is now building for what promises to be a wonderful celebration of GCC!
