NATIONAL ENVIRONMENTAL INNOVATOR AWARD FOR GREYSTONES COMMUNITY COLLEGE
Congratulations to the fantastic duo of Haylie Foley and Holly Cheevers and their Teacher Ms Buckley who have only gone and claimed third place nationally in this years Environmental Innovators competition. Haylie and Holly were selected from over one hundred applications to present at a peer day in Bord Bia - Irish Food Board today along side the 7 other national finalists. The challenge was to come up with a new innovative solution to one of the areas studied throughout the Environmental Innovators course in their Environmental Action module in 4th year.
Holly and Haylie came up with the innovative solution called the community cookhouse. This idea is to provide access to a kitchen for those struggling financially or those that may be experiencing homelessness. The community cookhouse would be fully stocked and open to all members of the public. Foods would be supplied from supermarket waste and leftover household foods that are still safe to eat.
Amazing work to secure another National Award for Greystones Community College.
