Greystones student wins big award in Texaco Art Competition
13 year old student Oisin Briggs from Greystones Community College scooped a Special Merit Award in the Texaco Children's Art Competition 2025 as one of only 8 winners across County Wicklow this year. The first year student created a masterpiece portrait depicting Breaking Bad character Walter White aka Heisenberg.
Oisin will be acknowledged for his work at special ceremony later this month. Final Adjudicator – Irish visual artist, curator and educator – Pauline O’Connell, commented that the award winners all 'displayed very high levels of skill and creativity.’
This year, the Texaco competition has been a platform on which young artists from Wicklow and counties throughout Ireland have had their talents recognised and their creativity commended. Greystones Community College Art Teacher Ms. Joan Morton was first to congratulate Oisin on his success, describing him as having a 'natural and undeniable talent'.
Now in its 71st year, the Texaco Children’s Art Competition continues to be a cornerstone of arts education in Ireland, offering generations of young people a platform to express their creativity and be recognised on a national stage.
