Acceptance Week at Greystones Community College
Acceptance Week at Greystones Community College began on Monday 6th December. This themed week highlights the importance of diversity in all forms, universal acceptance and the value in celebrating individuality. A highlight for the school was a fantastic online Zoom talk with Aisling Foran, Chair of the Triple A Wicklow. Aisling presented on the topic of neurodiversity, with a particular focus on Autism. Greystones Community College is proud to support neurodiversity within the school. Thank you to Aisling for the informative and valuable session.

Charity Initiatives at Greystones Community College
The Student Leadership Team is delighted to nominate Purple House Cancer Support as their chosen charity this Christmas. In addition to collecting donations, the Student leadership Team have organised a 'Giving Tree' within the school. The premise is simple; take a tag from the tree, buy a gift from the suggestions given and make Christmas a little more special for the recipients. No gift is too small and the team are looking forward to passing on all donations to Purple House Cancer Support in plenty of time for Christmas. Additionally, on Friday 10th December, the school raises money for Pieta House, by way of a non-uniform Day. Students are encouraged to wear their brightest Christmas-themed jumpers on the day, all in aid of this importance charity.
Online Teaching and Learning at Greystones Community College
On Tuesday 7th December, following advice from the Department of Education, all schools closed in Wicklow for in-person learning. In the interest of continuity of teaching and learning, Greystones Community College successfully moved to online learning for the day, with live classes delivered between 8.25am and 3.15pm. Well done to all students who, at short notice, committed to the alternative classroom environment. Particular credit is due to the 1st Year students who were unfamiliar with the format but adapted very well.
