Greystones Community College at Comhairle na nÓg

GCC student leadership team spent a very productive day this week at the Comhairle na nÓg gathering in Wicklow. The focus of the gathering was on facilitating dynamic engagement among students and giving them opportunities to share their views on the biggest issues for them. The student leaders were delighted to engage with our local and national politicians on the topics that they are currently working on. The student leadership team represented Greystones Community College with pride and were delighted to meet with Jennifer Whitmore TD, Steven Matthews TD and John Brady TD to discuss issues that are important to them.

Sporting Pride at Greystones Community College

Greystones Community College’s minor girls were unlucky in their quarter final match this week against Presentation Secondary School from Wexford. The girls put in a solid performance but didn’t get over the line in the end. Excellent performances from Chloe Hanley, Naomi Wall and Lucy Tyndall. Congratulations to the school's 1st Year Boys soccer team on their hugely impressive victory vs Glenart CC, winning the division 3 final this week. Goals from Aaron Byrne, Alex Cole, Patrick Derscanu, Ronan McGuigan, Matthew Ryan, Isaac Carcone and Liam Taylor ensured Greystones College won the title. The team has put in tremendous work throughout the entire season so this was a fantastic way to cap off the year. Well done to all the players and to Mr Doyle and Mr Byrne as coaches. Well done to every player, whether winning or losing this week; each one left it all out on the field and did the school proud.

Student Enterprise Programme Prize-Giving

Well done to Greystones Community College student entrepreneurs who were presented with their trophies and prize money this week, following their success in the Student Enterprise Programme recently. It was also a seminal moment for the GCC Players, who performed a two-night run of the production 'Riders to the Sea' by John Millington Synge. The level of acting and drama was highly professional with mature and confident performances from the 1st and 2nd year students involved. The reaction from the sold-out audiences in Greystones Rugby Club on both nights was electric. Well done to everyone involved in the production, notably the cast; Grace Bennet, Abigail Langrell, Ellie Walsh, Alessandro Del Rio, Seren Stamper Walshe, Ena Dowling, Charlotte Brannelly and Matthew Ryan; The Production Team: Isabella Di Ruzza, Sofia Flores, Yasmine Judge and Sophie Le Callonac.
