Green Schools at Greystones Community College

This year, the Green Schools Leadership Team at Greystones Community College, which consists of two representatives from each base class, will be working towards some specific and important goals. Over the coming weeks, the committee will be conducting an environmental survey, to understand the amount of litter and waste that is generated within the School. Creative Schools Beach Visit

Greystones Community College is proud to have been awarded funding from the Arts Council of Ireland to develop Performing Arts within the college. This year's creative arts project, entitled Trasna na dTonnta (Across the Waves), leans into the school's fortunate location here in a seaside community. This will be the inspiration for all elements of the ambitious project. The project will take a whole-school approach to explore the many ways the Wicklow coastline influences students' lives. This past week, 1st Year Artistic Performance students visited the local beach in Greystones, as part of the Trasna na dTonnta project, to make soundscapes; a sound or combination of sounds that forms or arises from an immersive environment. Over the coming months, a range of events will take place, as part of this theme, to cover a variety of areas of study.
