Term Exams at Greystones Community College

Term exams begin at Greystones Community College on Friday 17th December and run to Wednesday 22nd December, when the Christmas holidays commence. Students and teachers have dedicated time to revision, both in class and independently, in advance of the exams. 1st Years will start with Maths and Applied Technology while 2nd Years will tackle Spanish and Home Economics. The school wishes all students the very best of luck over the coming days and hopes that they enjoy a well-deserved break at the end of their tests.

Christmas Raffle for Purple House Cancer Support

Well done to the winners of the Student Ambassador Team Christmas Raffle in aid of Purple House Cancer Support. The raffle was well-supported by students and staff and the Student Ambassadors of Greystones Community College would like to thank the entire school community for their generous contributions. The lucky winners were Nicky Rossiter, Aaron Hayes, Alessandro del Rio and Mia Farren. A very well done to the Student Ambassador Team also for a very well-organised charity initiative within the school. In addition to the raffle, the Student Ambassador Team continue to lead on the 'Giving Tree' initiative, again in support of Purple House. The school community are generously donating gifts for children and teenagers battling illness this Christmas.

Gaeilgóir na Míosa at Greystones Community College

Comhghairdeas to this month's Gaeilgeoirí na Míosa; Greystones Community College's Irish Students of the Month. Those students were awarded for their dedication to the learning of Irish this November. Maith Sibh Keya Joglekar, Aoibhinn McGonigle, Alessandro del Rio, Karen Marsden, Jack Killilea and Angelica Di Tillio. Ag obair as láimhe a chéile.

Eco Friendly Christmas Crafts

The Student Ambassador Team have been hard at work in the run up to the festive period. As sustainability remains a priority within the school, the team worked on the development of eco-friendly Christmas crafts. Using sustainable resources such as cloves, cinnamon sticks, oranges and local foliage, they created beautiful hand-made decorations for their classmates and school environment, brightening each classroom and adding to the festive energy in Greystones Community College. Well done to the students involved and to Ms Redford for her support and assistance with the project.

FUSE Anti- Bullying Webinar

Greystones Community College are honoured to partner with DCU Anti-Bullying Centre (ABC) and to be involved in the FUSE Anti-Bullying and Online Safety Programme. FUSE is a research-based programme, designed to comply with UNESCO's Whole School Education Approach to tackle bullying and online safety in schools. DCU hosted a free online parents' Webinar for all schools participating in the FUSE programme on 14th December. The Webinar was informative and educational, and the school wishes to thank DCU and the FUSE team for the provision of this excellent learning opportunity.
