Our Mission

The mission represents the overall ‘raison díetre’ of the school. The mission statement comprises a core message on the school’s original purpose, the values that the school stands for and the reason for the schools continued existence.

‘Greystones Community College is a dynamic, vibrant and inclusive learning community that provides high quality teaching and learning in an environment that nurtures respect in our relationships, excellence in our endeavours and pride in our achievements’.

Our Vision

The vision represents the desired future for the school. It outlines general principles and is aspirational in nature.

‘To leave no stone unturned in creating a dynamic, vibrant and inclusive school of excellence which is embedded in the community and delivers a high quality and innovative education in a caring environment where every student is supported to reach their full potential’.

Our Foundation Stones

As a school community, we have high expectations that are expressed through how we live out our shared values which are centred around the schools’ key foundation stones of Respect, Excellence and Pride.

Our Aims

The fundamental aims are broad statements of educational goals. They relate to the promotion by the school of the intellectual, physical, social, personal, spiritual, moral and aesthetic development of all its pupils They provide a clear focus for the school.

  1. To provide high quality teaching and learning.
  2. To create an inclusive, friendly, and happy school community that supports students from all backgrounds.
  3. To provide a broad diverse curriculum relevant to the needs of its students of all abilities.
  4. To help form confident, balanced, enterprising and self-reliant people, capable of contributing positively to society.
  5. To promote a love of lifelong learning as we prepare our students for third level education.
  6. To create an open school that communicates effectively with all stakeholders and is immersed in the local community.
  7. To maintain a spirit of cooperation with and service to the wider community.
  8. To develop as innovative, hardworking staff that go above and beyond to assist students
  9. That we accept only the highest standards of behaviour and expectations and work hard to develop and maintain positive and respectful student/teacher relationships.

It is worth noting that the statement of Mission, Vision and Values will be a living document, that will change with the contributions of our community and through the collective experiences we share over time.
